Use of Forecast Models for the Interpretation of the Stability of Earthworks
Stability forecast models for earthworks are based on the transfer function modeling of two-time series(Xt and Yt)of field variables obtained by monitoring. The time series obtained in the geotechnical instrumentation monitoring of civil works can be considered as an atypical time series, since it usually contains missing and lagged observations, requiring regularization as continuous series for modelling. This paper presents concepts related to inferential prediction models and the results of predictive models of geotechnical behaviour obtained for a tunnel of the S(a)o Paulo Rodoanel Highway from data of surface settlement, depth settlement and water levels.Based on these results, considerations are raised for the utilization of forecast models in geotechnical instrumentation monitoring of mining tailings dams.
