Improving Safety Performance in Refractories Manufacturing and Services
Providing service to refractory customers poses many challenges from a safety standpoint.The nature of the environment in which the work must be performed as well as the type of work are the main considerations.The Minteq refractory service business provides refractory services to customers on a global basis.This requires a system and process to be in place that protects workers independent of where they might be working.Through the development of an internal EHS Management System and the rigorous use of risk identification and reduction tools,Minteq has been able to globally reduce recordable injury rates from 2007 to 2017 by 64%and lost workday injury rates in the same period by 93%.This paper presents the process Minteq used to enable this improvement.
