Thermodynamic Analysis and Research on Titanium Dioxide Carbothermal Reduction Nitridation Reaction in Ti-C-O-N System
The 99% electrode graphite and anatase TiO2 were used as raw materials, and carbothermal reduction nitridation reaction was carried out under different atmospheres at 1550K for 3h.The diagram of stability relationship between the condensed phases in the Ti-C-O-N system at the temperature of 1500K,1550K,1600K was originally plotted and act as the guideline of research. The influence of partial pressure on the phase transitions in Ti-C-O-N System has been studied. By controlling the partial pressure of N2 and CO, the desired titanium non-oxide phase is stably present. Chemical compositions and microstructures of titanium non-oxides under different atmospheres were studied by scanning electron microscopy, chemical composition analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis etc.. The result shows that when graphite is used as carbon source and the reaction is carried out under flowing nitrogen coke-buried condition, nTi:nC=1:3 is the best C/Ti molar ratio of precursor, and titanium non-oxides such as TiN0.93 and Ti(C0.4,N0.6) have been successfully prepared on the surface of specimen with nTi:nC=1:3.Compared with the common atmospheres like flowing nitrogen and coke condition, the reaction under flowing nitrogen coke-buried condition is more thorough and the nitridation rate is higher, which can significantly lower the synthesis temperature of TiN and Ti(C,N). Through comparative studies, buried samples under flowing nitrogen is an innovative efficient and effective treatment to preparation of TiN, TiC and Ti(C,N).
