Mechanism of Al3CON Formed in situ Reaction in the Corundum Composites
Mechanism of Al3CON formed in situ reaction in the corundum composites has been believed as follows:7Al+3Al3C4+12AlN+4Al2O3=12Al3CON.The mechanism of Al3CON formed in situ reaction has also been verified and proved by the XRD and SEM in specimen 1# of the corundum composites.The mechanism of Al3CON formed in situ reaction can be used to explain that the traditional carbon containing refractories will form Al4C3 and will not form Al3CON at 1500℃×3h buried in coke.Crushing strength of the specimen 1# added with suitable additive A after fired at 1500℃×3 h reaches to 225 MPa.the creep rate is positive all the time from 0%to 0.014%at 1500℃ for 2h.It is concluded that the active Al3CON and Al2O3 multiphases that were formed by Al,Al3C4,AlN and Al2O3 inside the matrix of the composites during in-situ reaction,which gives the composites outstanding creep rate resistance for the dense zone resulting from Al3CON oxidation that inhibits contraction at the high temperature.
