Interfacial reactions between K2O·11Al2O3 and Li-ion Battery Cathode Materials
To obtain the effective sagger matrix with high corrosion resistance performance, potassium aluminate(K2O·11Al2O3,KA11)was synthesized via solid state method using potassium carbonate(K2CO3)and industrial alumina powder(Al2O3).Interactions between KA11 and Li-ion battery cathode Li(NixCoyMnz)O2 (LNCM) materials at 800-1100 ℃ were explored by refractory-LNCM precursor cylinder testing in lab-scale.The phase composition and microstructure of synthesized KA11 and also the calcined KA11-LNCM cylinders were characterized and resulted in comprehensive understanding of the degradation behavior of KA11.The results reveal that only a slight corrosion caused by interfacial reaction between KA11 and LNCM occurred when the temperature is above 1000℃,thus the KA11 has the potential for application in sagger materials.
