Application of Electromagnetic Induction Method in Preparation of SiC/Si3N4 Composite Powder from Polysilicon Waste
SiC/Si3N4 composite powders were synthesized by electromagnetic induction heating in nitrogen atmosphere with polysilicon waste as main raw material and ammonium chloride(NH4Cl)as additive. The effects of ammonium chloride addition amount and heating time on SiC/Si3N4 composite powders were studied. Results showed that the main phase of polysilicon waste consisted of Si and SiC,which could react with nitrogen at high temperature to form powders mainly composed of α-Si3N4,β-Si3N4 and SiC.With the increase of NH4Cl,the fibrous α-Si3N4 in the synthetic products increased. And the Si3N4 in the composite powders also increased with the rise of heating time, this was mainly because prolonging heating time can effectively promote the nitridation of silicon powder.A new method of electromagnetic induction heating is proposed to prepare the SiC/Si3N4 composites with heating cheap polysilicon waste and NH4Cl,which provided an economically attractive production route.
