Effect of Binder Treatment by GLUE-D on Powder Characteristic
In order to reduce the segregation of mixed-powder and improve the powder quality,a new kind of binder for powder mixture was developed named GLUE-D.5 batches of Fe-2Cu-0.8C powder were prepared by adding different binder content(0-2 wt.%).Scanning electron microscope(SEM)and optical microscope(OM)are used to observe the morphology of powder composition,distribution and phase composition of the sintered samples.Mechanical properties of the sintered parts are measured by TRS experiments.The results show that adding binder not only powder segregation and dust in the mix can be effectively reduced,but also the consistency and apparent density of the mixed samples are improved.It also improves mixed-powder flow time and compressibility.The combined performance of powder is optimized when the added binder content is 1.6 wt.%.The adhesion effect of the two kinds of mixed-powders prepared by using this binder are able to achieve the same level of imported mixed-powders.
