Analysis on the Cost of Large-scale Hot Isostatic Pressing Production
Hot isostatic pressing(HIP)technology has the advantage of isotropy under high temperature and high pressure condition and is an advanced process for the development and production of powder metallurgy and new materials.This paper reviews the advantages of combination of hot isostatic pressing with precision casting,powder metallurgy,3D printing and diffusion bonding,which can greatly improve the overall performance and expand the application of new materials.Focusing on the main concern of HIP cost issues,this paper explores solutions from large-size HIP,large-scale production and optimization of the full process,which significantly reduces the HIP densification cost and makes the cost of large-scale manufacturing of high-performance powder metallurgy parts and billets by HIP basically the same as traditional process.Therefore,high performance and proper cost control make HIP process the mainstream for the large-scale production of powder metallurgy and new material.
