Reduction of Distortion of Product Generated in Induction Heating Process by Optimization of Coil Shape
As emission regulations have been increasingly tightened, the improvement of fuel efficiency of automobiles is strongly demanded in recent years. As a consequence, automotive parts are required to be produced while satisfying higher accuracy and functionality. Therefore,we aimed for the reduction of distortion of products generated in induction heating process. We conducted experiments on a hole for lock-pin of a plate sprocket whose inner wall required abrasion resistance, which was given by induction heating. With the existing coil, the required range of area was able to be hardened by being heated for a long period of time, which allowed large dimensional changes to occur on the width of the hole and its outer diameter.Basically,as the area of phase transformation will spread in proportion as the heating time will last.Accordingly,we optimized the coil shape to heat up the required area efficiently in a shorter time, which enabled the reduction of dimensional change generated in induction heating process and the reduction of production cost.
