Study on Properties of TC4 Titanium Alloy Formed by Powder Injection Molding

  For the precision preparation of TC4 titanium alloy parts with complex shape,the technology of Powder Injection Molding(PIM)was used.Several different powder were used to prepare catalytic debinding type feedstock.Then they were made into products after injection molding,catalytic debinding and vacuum sintering.The effect of sintering process parameters on sintering density,carbon and oxygen content,dimensional precision,microstructure and mechanical properties were studied.The result showed the samples of spherical powder and non spherical powder in a certain proportion had better comprehensive performance and better shape retention,the density of these samples could reach 96.2%after 2 h vaccum sintering during 1260℃.the content of C,O were respectively 0.19%and 0.11%,the tensile strength was 720 MPa,the bending strength was 1100 MPa,the elongation was 5.5%.It possessed uniform small grain size,and presented ductile fracture characteristics.
