The Evaluation of Homogeneity Using Viscoelasticity Test with SiO2 Powder for Powder Injection Molding

  In this study,the homogeneity of feedstocks of binder and silica powder was evaluated by using viscoelasticity experiments.About 11 μm silica powder and binder system were used.The mixing was performed at three different times to observe the time effect on the homogeneity of the mixture.Before the viscoelasticity test,viscosity measurement test was conducted to verify the homogeneity of feedstocks according to mixing times.Thereafter,viscoelasticity test was performed under a constant shear strain condition.The relative error was formulated by the measured values and the average values to evaluate the homogeneity of feedstocks.The results of viscosity and viscoelasticity test were compared to show the possibility of viscoelasticity test for evaluating homogeneity.The results verify that as the mixing time increased,the relative errors of viscosity decreased and the results of viscoelasticity test also followed them.Consequently,the viscoelasticity test can be applied to the assessment of homogeneity.
