Techno-economic analysis of IGCC power plant using different air separation technologies
The economic evaluation of an integrated gasification combined cycle(IGCC)power plants using different air separation processes is addressed. The integrated intermittent chemical looping air separation(IICLAS)unit is developed to improve the energy penalty of conventional cryogenic air separation(CAS)unit.Based on estimating the total capital investment(TCI)and total manufacturing cost(TMC),the profitability analysis of the CAS-based IGCC with CO2 capture(Case1)and CLAS-based IGCC with CO2 capture(Case2),is validated by some economic indicators such as levelized cost of electricity(LCOE),return on investment(ROI),and payback period(PBP),are evaluated. It can be seen from the results that the LCOE of case 2 is higher than case 1,the PBP of case 2 is less than case 1,and the ROI of case 2 is higher than case 1.
