Monitoring and Diagnosis Using Activated Sludge Plant Controller (ASP-Con) in a Activated Sludge Process Wastewater Treatment Plant from Seoul,Korea
The aim of this study is to evaluate newly invented instrument,Activated Sludge Plant Controller(ASP-Con),and to optimize the treatment process by reducing energy consumption and saving cost in pursuance of achieving sustainable energy and water cycle.Although there have been three hundred billion dollars of investment to energy independence project to save energy and cost when operating wastewater treatment plant in Korea(Energy Independence project),it failed due to the fact that the investments were allocated only to an improvement of digester facilities, lacking facility capacity or excessive design. To propose feasible optimization strategy for the wastewater treatment plant with minimal wastes,ASP-Con was introduced and experimented in four major wastewater treatment plants in the Republic of Korea. The ASP-Con identifies the optimal control points of a blower and the Dissolved Oxygen level to run the plant efficiently by measuring more than 20 parameters in real-time.
