Preparation of Carbon Quantum Dots/TiO2 Composite for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue
In this study, carbon quantum dots(CQDs)doped TiO2 composites were synthesized by hydrothermal treatment for photocatalytic removal of Methylene blue(MB).Characterization by various techniques, such as Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope,UV-vis spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction confirmed the successful formation of CQDs/TiO2.The results showed that the photocatalytic degradation of MB by TiO2 and CQDs/TiO2 were in accordance with pseudo first-order kinetics, and the photocatalytic degradation rate of MB over CQDs/TiO2 is 1.88 higher than that over TiO2.The photodegradation efficiency of MB over CQDs/TiO2 was 62.77%within 60 min, which was much higher than that of TiO2(40.38%).CQDs played important roles for MB photocatalytic activity improvement of CQDs/TiO2 under UV light irradiation, slowing the recombination and improving the charge transfer.
