REHABILITATION OF DAMAGED CIRCULAR HOLLOW SECTION(CHS)STEEL COLUMNS UNDER COMPRESSION USING CFRP AND GROUT
This paper presents an experimental evaluation of axially loaded damaged steel Circular hollow Section(CHS)columns rehabilitated by Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers(CFRP)or high-strength grout,respectively.A total of 10 specimens were axially loaded to investigate their compressive behavior.Two types of repairing methods are adopted.One of the methods is external wrapping CFRP sheets,and the other is jacketeing with high-strength grout.The failure modes were presented together with load–deformation behavior of specimens.The test results confirmed that the behavior of damaged CHS steel columns was effectively restored whether by CFRP or grout jackets.The local buckling of the internal steel tube was either delayed by fibres or suppressed by the surrounding grout,leading to an improvement in loading capacity.
