APPLICATION OF RESIN INFUSION METHOD IN FRP-STRENGTHENING OF CONCRETE STRUCTURES

  The repair of concrete structures via bond of fibre reinforced polymer(FRP)materials onto the substrate has been extensively carried out by two commonly used methods,pultrusion or wet lay-up.However,with the wide application of the composite materials in the strengthening of infrastructures,new processing techniques with higher quality are necessary to achieve the reliable FRP repairing system.The resin infusion(RI)has been used in marine,petroleum and composite manufacturing industries in a large scale to reduce production cost,make complex geometry with large components,produce composites with high fibre volume fraction and to improve the quality of the products.However,their application in structural engineering was limited.This research provides a review on resin infusion FRP processing technique and its associated challenges for strengthening of infrastructure.It also provides investigations into the bond between FRP-concrete composite joints.
