EVALUATION OF PRESTRESS LOSSES DUE TO CONCRETE CREEP AND SHRINKAGE IN CFRP PRE-TENSIONED CONCRETE MEMBERS
This paper presents the results of an experimental study regarding the evaluation of prestress losses in carbon fiber reinforced polymers(CFRP)pre-tensioned concrete prisms.Total of fifty-four CFRP pretensioned prisms were cast and instrumented along their length to obtain the concrete longitudinal strain profiles and corresponding prestress losses due to concrete creep and shrinkage over a one year period.Additionally,long-term stress relaxation tests(over one year)were conducted on thirty plain prestressing CFRP strands to monitor their corresponding stress relaxation characteristics. The experimental results are presented and compared with the existing prestress losses prediction method from American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials(AASHTO).The paper also presents revised design guidelines to be implemented in the new AASHTO cycle.
