EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON FIRE PERFORMANCE OF RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH CFRP GRIDS
The use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer(CFRP)grids has been established as a simple and innovative method for flexural strengthening of reinforced concrete(RC)beams.In this strengthening technique,the CFRP grids are encased with the polymer mortar.As CFRP is known to be susceptible to deterioration at elevated temperature,the fire performance of RC members strengthened with CFRP grids has been an issue of significant concern,particularly for building applications.In order to evaluate the feasibility of achieving a fire-rated CFRP grids strengthening system,an experimental program was conducted to examine and document the performance of RC beams strengthened with CFRP grids under fire conditions.Test results on fire indicated that the CFRP grids strengthening system provided good fire resistance performance,moreover,the CFRP grids strengthened RC beams can achieve structural fire resistance ratings as specified in building design codes.
