Present situation and problems of design and calculation of hybrid FRP-steel truss bridge

  Truss is one of the most reasonable structural forms in the frame structure,and the pultruded fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)material with excellent tensile and compressive properties can be full used in truss structures.This paper briefly introduces the present situation of FRP truss bridge construction,introduces a new hybrid FRP-steel truss lightweight emergency bridge,based on a novel technology called pre-tightened teeth connection(PTTC).The project shows that truss is the proper structure system for pultruded FRP profiles to build bridges,and PTTC can make full use of the properties of FRP,get higher connection efficiency.Research status at home and abroad show that the reliability in design of FRP truss bridge existing some problems: not clear,low safety,hard to calculation.
