EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON ENHANCEMENT OF ADDITIONAL RIB TO ANCHORAGE PERFORMANCE OF FRP BAR

  The deficient anchorage performance of FRP bars has impeded the application of them in concrete structure.To solve this problem,the method,which was extruding an aluminium alloy tube on a FRP bar thereby forming the additional rib,was proposed in this paper.The tests were conducted on 42 FRP bars with additional ribs.The interfacial shear performance between FRP bar and additional rib was investigated.And it was compared with the bond strength at the FRP-concrete interface.The experimental results indicated that types of FRP bars,and the types,the tube thickness and the length of aluminum alloy tube had obvious effect on the interfacial shear performance.The proposed method is simple and feasible,which is expected to become a new method to significantly enhance the anchorage performance of the FRP bars.
