THE PERFORMANCE OF BOND-TYPE ANCHORAGE FOR CFRP TENDONS WITH PRETENSION METHOD
The pretension method is developed to improve the performance of bond-type anchorage for carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP)tendon or cable.CFRP tendon was pretensioned to a certain load before the bond medium of reactive power concrete(RPC)was poured into the steel sleeve of the bond-type anchorage. After the compressive strength of bond medium RPC reachs to its designate value, the pretensioned load was released and a pre-shear stress reversed to the bonding stress under service tension could be formed on the bonding interface between CFRP tendon and RPC grout, which aims to offset the bonding stress from service tension partially and have the bonding strength on the interface increased indirectly. In the present pullout test of the bond-type anchorage specimens, the bond length of the anchorage varied from 100 mm to 250 mm,and the pretension loads were 50 kN and 90 kN.The results showed that when the tensile strength of the indented surface CFRP tendon is less than 3000 MPa,and the pretension load is 56%of the ultimate load of general bond-type anchorage without pretention, the critical bonding length of the CFRP tendon in RPC of 130Mpa could be reduced by 35%.The equation for predicting the interface bond strength of pretensioned CFRP tendon in RPC were developed on the test results.
