FABRICATION AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MULTI SCALE FRP WITH MCNTS REINFORCED
To enhance the interface strength between layers of fiberglass reinforced composites(FRP),industrialgrade multiwall carbon nanotubes(MCNTs)was designed onto a fiberglass fabric(GFf)under ultrasonic assisted to prepare a MCNTs/GFf(MGf)perform,which was used to fabricate a multi scale FRP with MCNTs(MGE)by vacuum infusion method(VIM).Uniform distribution of MCNTs has been solved successfully in multi scale FRP.The mechanical properties,interlaminar shear strength(ILSS)and dynamic thermo mechanical properties of the multi scale FRP were investigated,respectively.The results indicated that the MCNTs on the MGf surface can act as anchors and form some interpenetrating network to improve the interfacial toughness and mechanical properties of the multi scale FRP.Compared with the GFE composite,the tensile strength,flexural strength and ILSS of MGE composites have been advanced by 33.2%,29.9%and 40.5%,respectively.Furthermore,its initial storage modulus and glass transition temperature have been raised obviously,and its loss tangent have decreased.
