CFRP-CONFINEMENT OF RC COLUMNS IN GERMANY:STATE-OF-THE-ART AND RECENT FINDINGS

　　Confinement is generally applied to members in compression with the goal to increase their strength and ductility.CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers)materials have recently recognized as favorable confinement devices.German DAfStb-Guideline ?Strengthening of concrete structures with adhesive bonded reinforcement“ 2 provides a procedure to predict the load bearing capacity of CFRP-confined circular RC columns.The paper presents a brief state-of-the-art concerning this model.Furthermore,some recent research efforts and findings to improve the current model will be offered.
