ECCENTRIC AXIAL LOAD CAPACITY OF FRP CONFINED CONCRETE WITH DIFFERENT WRAPPING CONFIGURATIONS
This study presents the results of an experimental program on the behavior of concentrially and eccentrically loaded FRP confined concrete specimens with different wrapping configurations.Fully FRP wrapped and partially FRP wrapped concrete specimens with different strip spacings(30 mm and 60 mm)were tested under concentric and eccentric axial loadings. All specimens were 150 mm in diameter and 300 mm in height and were wrapped with the same amount of FRP.The test results indicate that fully FRP wrapped specimens outperformed partially FRP wrapped specimens under both concentric and eccentric axial loadings. With the increase of eccentricity, the performance of specimens was significantly decreased. Moreover, with the increase of eccentricity, the failure modes changed from FRP rupture at the compression side to extensive concrete cracking at the tension side.
