THE APPLICATION TO BRIDGE ENCLOSURE SYSTEM OF FRP CURVED SANDWICH PANELS WITH FOAM CORE

  Non-linear architecture,for its streamlined shape and well fusion with environment,is becoming more and more popular worldwide.FRP(Fibre-Reinforced Polymer)curved sandwich panel with PUR(Polyurethane)foam core,has the adavantages of lightweight,high strength and excellent designability,providing a better choice to construct non-linear architecture.This work presents a practical engineering application,a 9028.5-m2 enclosure system of a large bridge,designed and manufactured with such panels.The structural design includes the design of FRP curved sandwich panels,connection joints and steel brace system.The FRP curved sandwich panels were further optimized with FEA(Finite Element Analysis).Finally,the manufacture and installation were demonstrated.In conclusion,this work gives a reference to the application of FRP curved sandwich panels being as the self-standing structures,except for the formworks of the structures.
