EFFECT OF STEEL BOLT ANCHORAGE ON COVER SEPARATION FAILURE OF COMPOSITE RC BEAMS
Concrete cover separation is one of the premature debonding failure models commonly observed when strengthening reinforced concrete(RC)beams using externally bonded fibre-reinforced polymer(FRP)laminates.Anchorage system has been proved to be an effective means to achieve higher levels of FRP utilization by preventing or postponing the debonding from occurring.Although the efficiency of anchorage system has now been widely acknowledged by researchers, reliable design formulation is still in its initial stage and greatly limits the use of FRP strengthening in practice. In this study, specimens of CFRP strengthened RC beams with bottom steel bolt anchor was designed to investigate the mechanism of concrete cover separation. The fully separation of cantilever was identified through the knee point of load-strain curves of CFRP laminate at the cracked section. With sufficient length of steel bolt anchorage, cantilever separation can be prevented, and the peak load was improved.
