CONCRETE COVER SEPARATION FAILURE OF COMPOSITE RC BEAMS WITH CFRP U-SHAPE ANCHORAGE

  Anchorage system can help the FRP strengthened beams achieve higher levels of FRP utilization prior to premature debonding failure and improve the load bearing capacity.While the majority of studies have focused on the effect of anchorage system on intermediate crack(IC)debonding and end debonding,very few studies have been devoted to the commonly faced concrete cover separation.The aim of this study is to develop an analytical approach for the flexural strengthening RC beams with U-shape CFRP anchorage and predict the debonding failure of concrete cover separation.The present paper designed seven specimens with different width and height of U-shape end anchorage to investigate the effect of relevant parameters on concrete cover separation by artificial tooth test of strengthened RC element.The height of U-anchorage was proved to be more efficient than its width to improve the debonding strength.
