EFFECT OF ADHESIVE STIFFNESS ON THE BOND BEHAVIOR OF FRP-TO-CONCRETE INTERFACE

The adhesive stiffness has been found to be one of the factors influence the bond behavior of FRP-to-concrete interface. However, most of existing bond-slip models do not considered such influence factor. This paper presents the test results of series of FRP-to-concrete double-lap shear specimens under monotonic loading,in which the identical FRP sheets were bonded to the concrete substrate with different types of adhesives.Digital image correlation measurement was applied in the tests for determining a more accurate bond-slip realtionship.Test results indicate that the interfacial fracture energy decreases while the peak shear stress increases significantly with the increasing adhesive stiffness.A bond-slip model is proposed based on the analysis of the test results. To validate this model,a test database including specimens with different adhesive stiffness was established. The predicted results of the proposed model and the typical existing models were compared with the test results from the test database. The proposed model has been shown to have a relative more accurate and lower dispersion than the existing models.
