Sulfamethazine degradation and corresponding antibiotic resistance genes propagation in the aquifer porous media:a sand tank experiment

In this paper, aquifer porous medium and two different kind of NO3-remediation materials was used to investigate attenuation behavior of sulfamethazine and corresponding antibiotics resistance genes(sul1,sul2),using HPLC and Q-PCR method,in order to evaluate risks posed on drinking water sources. The results showed that removal rate of sulfamethazine from aquifer sand was above 90%,higher than the material with Fe0 and without Fe0(70%and 49%respectively).For both material, there was an obvious increasing trend of resistance genes in effluent water, indicating a high dissemination risk of antibiotic resistance genes, which can provide reference for pollutant remediation and water source risk control.
