First Comparison of Modern Human and Chimpanzee Middle Ear Transfer Function
While hearing in modern humans(Homo sapiens) is studied relatively well, audition in our closest living relatives, the great apes, remains poorly understood.Comparisons of auditory capacities of modern humans and the common chimpanzee(Pan troglodytes),the only non-human ape tested so far, suggests distinct differences between the two species, revealing an old world monkey overall hearing pattern in common chimpanzees and high-lightening a number of auditory specialization in modern humans.
