Identification of Novel Cryptic Aminoglycoside Phosphotransferases in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Inactivation by enzymatic modification is the most prevalent mechanism of resistance to different types of antibiotics in the clinical setting (1).Among the enzymes modified, group transferases have the widest range of substrates (2).Numerous genes have been annotated as transferases in sequenced bacterial genomes, and many of them share identity with known antibiotic transferases.
