Sir,Escherichia coli is one of the most frequent pathogenic bacteria isolated from sick bovines, especially in cases of diarrhoea.During the last decade, E.coli from animals have been increasingly found to produce extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), mainly due to the emergence and spread of CTX-M-type enzymes.
