EFFECTS OF HYDRODYNAMICS PARAMETERS IN A FLOTATION CELL ON DEINKING EFFICIENCY
A porous media-aerated laboratory flotation cell was designed to study the effects of the hydrodynamics flotation parameters. The deinking efficiency was measured for the ink particles detached from the suspension. The results showed that deinking efficiency improved with increasing air ratio, but the trend would become slow after a given air ratio.Larger air to pulp ratio would reduce flotation time to some extent.Because of flotation rate constants going up with reducing bubble size, smaller bubbles should be adopted for higher deinking efficiency. For ONP/OMG pulp, flotation rate constant was the highest for 20-100ums ink particles, lower for 8-20um,and lowest for 100-200um.A proper turbulence increase was favorable for reducing bubble size and improved collision probability between bubbles and particles so as to improve flotation rate constants.
