INCREASING FILLER CONTENT THROUGH THE USE OF A NOVEL FILLER LOADING TECHNOLOGY
Producing products with various performance requirements at minimal cost is a complex challenge for paper and paper board manufacturers.Fiber substitution with filler is one of the solutions for the paper makers to cut cost but strength properties need to be maintained.Nalco Water patented FillerTEKTM technology arised from this needs,which can increase filler content in paper and board without any negative impact on strength properties through combining several wet-end chemistries and filler treatment technology.Currently 3,000,000 tons of paper and board was produced with Nalco Water FillerTEK program every year,which helps to achieve 3%ash increase on average,save 90,180 tons of fiber globally.Nalco Water FillerTEKTM technology is able to increase sheet strength by reducing the interference of filler with fiber-fiber bonding.The filler treatment can be utilized on-site for treating precipitated or ground calcium carbonate(PCC or GCC),or a blend of these two kinds of carbonate.With this technology,paper producers can expect to achieve a high Return on Investment(ROI)through benefits including reduced fiber cost,maintained strength properties and decreased stream usage.
