PREPARATION OF MALTODEXTRIN-BASED BIO-LATEX AND ITS APPLICATION IN PAPER COATING

　　Biological latex(bio-latex),which can replace carboxylic styrene-butadiene latex(SBR)in pre-coating process,was prepared with maltodextrin as the main raw material by means of a certain modification techniques.It was applied to coat the paper for partial replacement of SBR.The impact of bio-latex on the performance of coated paper was investigated.The results showed that,the brightness and smoothness of coated paper were improved while the gloss and surface strength of coated paper were decreased up to some extent,and the mechanical strength of the coated paper was little increased.The infrared spectra of products showed that cross-linking reaction was occurred between glutaraldehyde and maltodextrin.The SEM images of paper surface suggested a reasonable explanation for its surface properties.
