Study Dewatering & forming mechanism of Roll top former and Influence Factors

The pulp was dehydrated by one-side in traditional Fourdrinier machine. The retention of fillers and fines near wire was lower, which resulted in a large two-sidedness of paper. At the same time, the forming process of paper in Fourdrinier machine was a ladder dehydration process. The concentration of pulp near wire was higher, while the other side close to the concentration of pulp in headbox.Along with the dehydration, the fiber on the wire began to flocculate. The degree of flocculation increased gradually with increasing pulp concentration, resulting in poor paper formation finally.Wet paper was dewatered by extrusion force of two wires and centrifugal force of rolls in roll top former, which could disperse fiber and reduce the fiber flocculation in wet paper. So It can improved the quality of paper and the running performance of Fourdrinier machine significantly.Roll top former was meaningful to improve paper formation, reduce two-sidedness of paper and increase the dehydration capability of Fourdrinier machine. It was widely used in Fourdrinier machines which velocity was less than 1200m/min.The paper studied dewatering & forming mechanism of roll top former according to roll top former structure. It also studied the influence factors of dewatering & forming based on five aspects which included wet paper wetness before top former, entrance angle, the location of low suction box under bottom wire and lower formation roll, the diameter of formation roll and the depth of upper formation roll embedded into bottom wire.It provided theoretical reference for roll top former optimization and successful application in paper mills.
