Functional polymers and nanoparticles for rendering cellulose fibres antimicrobial:from lab scale to pilot trial
INTRODUCTION In the context of a constantly growing population and globalization of markets, prevention of microbial contamination by harmful bacteria or pathogens,is becoming increasingly important. In recent years, there has also been a significant increase in prevalence of antibiotic, multidrug resistant bacterial strains, which possesses serious threats to public health(5).This has provided impetus in the search to find new antimicrobial agents with low toxicity and innovative materials such as,antimicrobial paper/packaging,wipes,tissues,etc.for food packaging and health care applications.
