ALKYNYLATED CELLULOSE FIBERS(ACFS):A VERSATILE CLICKABLE PLATFORM FOR PREPARATION OF FUNCTIONAL BIOMATERIALS
This work presents an environmentally friendly approach to synthesis of alkynylated cellulose fibers(ACFs),a versatile platform for further deliberately tailoring cellulose by robust click reaction.Selective oxidation of cellulose fibers by NaIO4 generates dialdehyde cellulose(DAC)fibers and subsequent Schiff base reaction with ethynylaniline yields ACFs.The ethynyl moieties introduced into ACFs could be easily transferred with azido compounds through click reaction under CuSO4/sodium ascorbate(CuSO4/NaVc)catalysis system.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)were used to exam the selective oxidation,Schiff base reaction and click reaction. The preparation methodology provides a universal path to clickable platform for cellulosic materials. The clickable platform for click reaction also serves as a versatile starting precursor for finely tailoring cellulose which was inaccessible via traditional approach.
