DIFFERENT METHODS FOR PREPARATION OF BACTERIAL FIBER DISPERSION
Bacterial cellulose(BC)is a kind of special fiber material with high purity,crystallinity and unique physical strength.However,the application of bacterial cellulose in papermaking mostly needs to be dispersed into the pulp.In this paper,three methods which were chemical treatment(acid and alkaline treatment),PFI beater treatment,and ultrasonic treatment were studied to disperse BC.Chemical treatment can only make BC macromolecular degradation,but cannot make the hydroxyls in fiber bundles exposed.PFI beater treatment was proved to be the most effective dispersion method with lowest energy and time consumption.After PFI treatment,the BC fiber width,curl index,and kink index decreased corresponding to the reduction in fiber length and the texture become more delicate.Due to the good flexibility,low hardness of BC fibers,it is hard for ultrasound to disperse BC.
