PAPER COATED BY ALDEHYDE-NANOCELLULOSE/CHITOSAN AND ITS PROPERTIES
Cellulose and Chitin are the two most abundant natural resources in nature,with the good mechanical strength,degradability,renewability,and good biocompatibility.Their derivative products have attached the attention of researchers in biomass field.Nanocellulose was used as reinforce agent to prepare composite materials,and Chitosan was used as has enhancing additive as its good forming properties and natural antibacterial properties.In this study,aldehyde-nanocellulose(NDAC)and Chitosan(CS)were used to coat alternately on paper,and then were treated with soft calendaring.After that,the coated paper was dried in constant temperature and humidity.The physical properties of the original paper and coated paper were investigated,such as tensile strength,folding strength,bursting strength and so on.The result was shown that some properties were improved,especially for its bursting strength,smoothness and water vapor barrier property.Surface morphology of coated paper analyzed by scanning electron microscope indicated that the smoothness of coated paper was increased obviously.The antibacterial test suggested that the coated paper obtained antibacterial property.It indicates that Nanocellulose and Chitosan have a positive effect on coated paper which can be used to prepare antibacterial paper and other kind of functional paper.
