PHOTOCATALYTIC DEGRADATION OF ALKALI LIGNIN USING TiO2/H2O2
As an important aromatic biopolymer in biomass and a hardly degradable component in pulp and paper effluent, lignin is expected to be degraded under control at mild temperatures for both productions of small aromatic compounds and reductions of effluent pollutions.Photocatalytic degradation of lignin is considered as an efficient and promising technology.Herein,TiO2/H2O2 was selected as the photocatalytic system. The photocatalytic degradation experiment of alkali lignin was carried out under visible-near infrared light irradiation and the temperature was controlled at 70℃.The alkali lignin and its photodegradation products were characterized by FIIR,1H-NMR and GC-MS.It was found that the alkali lignin can be highly photodegraded under visible light with the H2O2 existed, and depolymerized into small molecular chemicals such as guaiacol and vanillic alcohol.
