Study on the feasibility of the coffee residue in fiber feed additives

  In this experiment,the coffee residue powder was used as raw material,Opticell(a kind of feed additive widely used in the market)was used as reference,the feasibility of it became a substitution of Opticell to provide the required fiber for pigs was analyzed.The content of total dietary fiber was measured by HPLC and enzymes-weight method.Optimum condition of extracting dietary fiber from coffee residue and the ratio of the mixture as a substitution was investigated.Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FT-IR)was used to analyze the main functional groups of extracting dietary fiber and Opticell.X-ray diffractometer(XRD)was used to calculate both crystallinity.Scanning electron microscope(SEM)was utilized to analyze their morphological structure.Determination of physiological activity was applied to contrast their characteristics.Results showed that the amount of Opticell,coffee residue insoluble dietary fiber was 59%and 58%,soluble dietary fiber was 21.56%and 15.91%.In the condition of temperature 50℃ and NaOHconcentration was 0.4mol/L,maximum extraction rate of soluble dietary fiber was 15.91%,while 55.67%of maximum extraction rate of insoluble dietary fiber wasobtained when temperature was 40℃ and NaOHconcentration was 0.5mol/L.The soluble dietary fiber and insoluble dietary fiber of coffee residue mixed together according to the proportion of 1:3.5 can give a substitution product of Opticell.FT-IR analysis showed that substitution and Opticell had similar characteristic water absorption was stronger.XRD analysis showed that the crystallinity of substitution was 41.6,compared to original coffee residue was 50 and Opticell was 67.7,it had the minimum degree of crystallization,thus the swelling effect was the best among them.SEM analysis showed that the substitution was loose and slender,the specific surface area was large,had strong adsorption ability for secreted active substances.Determination of physiological activity showed that the water retention capacity of substitution was 16.32g/g,expansibility was17.39ml/g,water-combining capacity was 16.83 g/g,while the characteristic of Opticell respectively was13.46g/g,15.28ml/g,13.96g/g.
