STUDY ON THE CROSSLINKING REACTION CHARACTERISTICS OF CELLULOSE-NANOFIBERS WITH GLUTARALDEHYDE UNDER ACID CATALYSIS CONDITION
In this study,we demonstrate that cellulose-nano fibers(CNFs)can be crossed-linked via glutaraldehyde(GA)under acid catalysis condition. The influences of the CNFs carboxyl content, the GA concentration, reaction temperature,pH and reaction time on the crosslinking reaction were investigated. Both the mechanical property and the water resistance of the CNFs/GA cross-linked films were also studied. The appropriate crosslinking reaction conditions were as follows: the CNFs carboxyl content GA concentration,pH,the reaction temperature and reaction time was 0.94mmol/g,4wt%,3.0,70℃ and 60min respectively. The FT-IR analysis showed that the CNFs/GA cross-linked films were successfully synthesized by the acetalization reaction between-OH of CNFs and-CHO of GA,and that formed a dense three-dimensional network structure. The elasticity modulus of the CNFs/GA cross-linked film was 7.66GPa,which increased by 62.98%relative to the elasticity modulus(4.70GPa)of the CNFs film. The water resistance of the CNFs/GA cross-linked films were obviously improved, the morphology of the CNFs/GA cross-linked films after immersing in water were still intact after 24 hours, while the CNFs films almost dissolved in the water after 20 minutes. This method provided a facile route to enhance the elasticity modulus and water resistance of the CNFs for the applications of the bullet-proof glass interlayer, flexible electronic device and new packing material.
