Adsorption of Cr(Ⅵ)from aqueous single metal solutions by succinylated cellulose modified with Polyethylenimine(PEI)
This study describes the preparation of a new chelating material.Cellulose was rapidly pretreated with microwave-H2O2and grafted with metal binding groups.New biosorbent were characterized by concentration of functional groups, elemental analysis, and infrared spectroscopy. The results showed degrees of carboxyl of 4.64 mmol/g,amination of 2.61mmol/g and nitrogen content of 4.64%,respectively.The effect of contact time,pH,and initial concentration on the metal ions uptake was investigated. The results indicate that the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation was adequate to describe the adsorption kinetics(R2> 0.999).Adsorption isotherms were well fitted by Freundlich isotherm model with remarkably high adsorption capacity(97.06mg/g for Cr(Ⅵ)).Overall, rapid and environmental preparation and efficient adsorption would make it a promising biosorbent.
