Relationship between paper optical properties and color reproduction in ink jet printing
Ink-jet printing is now common in the home and office and its print color reproduction is a growing challenge for users.Paper properties are important factors for ink-jet print color reproduction,especially for paper optical properties.The objective of this work was to explore the influences of paper optical properties on print color reproduction.Herein,papers were sized with different dyes to change optical properties instead of the other properties.CIE whiteness is better than ISO brightness to express the paper color,because the CIE whiteness not only shows the paper lightness but also exhibits the color of paper.Color reproduction is mainly influenced by paper color.The change of a* and b* value of paper shows great influence to the color reproduction,especially for the print printed with yellow ink.The a* and b* value of paper is less influence on the print printed with cyan and magenta ink because of their high ink cover.L value above 94 did not have a significant impact in lightness of printed sample.
