Differences of some characterization between non-fibrous cells and pulp fibers
Non-fibrous cells were separated from wheat straw pulps after soda-AQ or alkali-oxygen pulping. They as well as pulp fibers were characterized by chemical analysis, fiber quality analyzer(FQA),dynamic drainage and Zeta potential. The results showed that the chemical composition in the two type of cells were basically similar with each other, except for silica and nitric acid-alcohol cellulose content, and the average length of non-fibrous cells were only near 1/3 of that of the fibers even though the former had larger value in width. It is noticed that the dynamic drainability of the pulp involved in non-fibrous cells was just somewhat lower than that of fibers, regardless of the extremely poor drainability of the former. As for their Zeta potentials, the value of fibers was larger than that of non-fibrous cells from soda-AQ pulp, but the result was opposite from low-temperature alkali-oxygen pulp.
