PREPARATION OF DHP FROM ISOEUGENOL AND CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTY

  Dehydrogenation polymer(DHP)was prepared with isoeugenol in vitro as precursor of lignin biosynthesis using laccases as catalyst by bulk method.The chemical structure of the DHP was analyzed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)and solid state 13C-NMR spectroscopy.The antibacterial activities of the four fractions from the DHP were also investigated.The FT-IR spectra suggest that the isoeugenol can be polymerized to be guaiacyl-type DHP.The analysis of the solid state 13C-NMR spectra indicate that the DHP is mainly composed of β-O-4,β-β,β-5 and β-1 subunits.The result of the determination of antibacterial activity shows that the fraction extracted by petroleum ether and that by diethyl ether show strong antimicrobial activity against E.coli and S.aureus.
