Effect of Dynamic Characteristic for Test-piece and Its Fixtureon Measurement of Milling Force
The possible causes of periodic abnormalities in the measured data of milling force were to be explored. The test-piece and its fixture were taken as a system, and with modal simulation method, its mode frequencies under different number of fastening bolt were analyzed. With experimental method of hammering response, the amplitude-frequency characteristic curves of this system in horizontal directions were drawn. With experimental method of measuring milling force under different low spindle speeds, the amplitude-frequency relationship curves of measured main force components in horizontal directions were drawn.Research results showed that the amplitude-frequency characteristic curves of this system was similar to the amplitude-frequency relationship curves of measured main force components, and natural frequencies gotten from simulation and experiments were close to each other, which indicates that, the forced vibration of test-piece and its fixture should be the cause of the periodic abnormalities of measured milling forces in lower spindle speed, and the mode frequencies of test-piece and its fixture would decrease only a little with the reduction in the number of its fastening screws. The research results can be referred to in the relevant research and production application of milling force measurement.
