Modeling and Simulation of Liquid Metal Electrode Discharge Channel base on Particle-in-cell and Monte Carlo Collision

  Micro electro-discharge machining(μEDM)method based on liquid metal electrode has been proposed to solve a variety of issues associated with the electrode wear.However,the mechanism of the μEDM is limited,and its discharge process is difficult to observe,which makes it hard to fully understand the mechanism of the discharge processing.Therefore,the single pulse discharge process of μEDM based on liquid metal electrode was modeled and simulated by the Particle-in-cell and Monte Carlo collision(PIC-MCC)model in this paper.And the moving trajectory of charged particles,the plasma density distribution in the discharge channel were studied by considering the ionization collision,excitation collision and elastic collision process of the electron and neutral dielectric.The simulation results reveal the physical change process on discharge channel using liquid metal electrode and the law of plasma distribution in the discharge channel.Whats more,the energy distribution in the discharge channel under steady state were analyzed.
