Research on the performance of PCD radius end mill in ductile milling of engineering ceramics with largecutting parameters
The selection of cutting parameters for precision milling of ceramics is important to both the machined surface quality and materials removal rate.This work specifically aims at the performance of PCD end mills with corner radius in precision milling of zirconia ceramics with ralatively big cutting parameters.Characteristics of the machined surface in precison milling ceramics with corner radius end mill are analyzed.Precision milling experiments with large milling depth have been carried out to help understanding the characteristics of cutting zone.Based on that,the author puts forward the strategy to improve the material removal rate while ensuring a high machined surface quality when precision milling ceramics.
